Open Graph (OG) tags are meta tags that control how your content appears when shared on social media. They define the title, description, and image shown in link previews. Without proper OG tags, platforms may display incorrect or missing information, reducing engagement with your shared links.
Each platform interprets OG tags slightly differently and has its own display formats. Twitter uses its own twitter:card tags with fallback to OG tags, Discord adds a colored border and specific layout, while LinkedIn and Facebook stick closer to the OG specification. This tool helps you see exactly how each platform will render your link.
The recommended size for OG images is 1200x630 pixels (1.91:1 aspect ratio). This size works well across most platforms. Twitter large cards work best at this ratio, while smaller thumbnails on Discord and Slack will crop the image. Always use absolute URLs for images to ensure they load correctly.
